Notes
General:
VEry little is known about him. He appeared as a sponsor at the baptism of Simon, son of Cornelis Joosten and Catherina DeHart, 2 Jan 1693. Ht is assumed that he was an adult at this time and therefore he is placed first among Simon Aersen's children. No bapt. record for him has been found. Spnsor with him at the above baptism was Annetje deHaerdt. She coudln't be his sister who was then only five years old, The late John S. DeHart (compiler of many charts on the family now at the NY Public Library) gives hima wife Annetje apparently on the basis of this record, However, the record does not say wife and the Annetje remains unidentified. She could well be Annetje, the second wife of Simon Aerson. All accoutns of the Dehart family in New Jersey and elsewhere state that Cornelius DeHart, a son of Simon Dehart, was among the early settlers along the old Indian Path. This was the old road that divided Somerset from Middlesex County. (by Ruth Dehart, ofSkamokawa, WA, in 1974.)
