Another Internet source states that he was a yeoman farmer and that he was Anglican.

Data from Pat Thomas Gedcom at Rootsweb Worldconnect, looks based on wills and marriage records. Not all details make sense. Elizabeth Steele left a will naming some of her grandchildren. Thus we would know her first name. We have an exact date for their marriage, but how would the marriage record from which we would know this date not give her last name? What is more, the date of the marriage is later than the dates of birth of her children.
