General Notes (Husband)

I had his wife as Mary, Miriam or Frances, died 14 May 1681 at Hartford, which must summarize the common informaiton about her. Rasmussen, in "The Giles FAmily of Windsor CT" (TAG 1985) says that "his unnamed first wife died at Windsor 14 May 1681 (all Windsor VR)". He doesn't mention a second wife, so unclear why he calls Unnamed Thomas's first wife.

Thomas Dibble, husbandman (farmer or agricultural worker), aged 22, embarked from Weymouth, County Dorset, fo rNew England, and on 17 Dec 1635, land was alootted at Dorchester mA to "Robert Deeble" and his son Thomas to build a house thereon within a year (NEHGR 25:14, 21: 334-35.) He was a freeman in 1637, two years after Robert. He came with his sister, Francis Dible Soror, who was two years older than he. He was 22, adn his sister 24. He conveyed land to his son in law Samuel Gibbs on 11 Jan 1699//1700 (Windsor Land Records)

Search for Passengers of the Mary and John says that his first wife's identity is unknown and names a second, Elizabeth, marriage 24 June 1683, Windsor. She was first married to John Hawks (Trorey, p 255 - it doesn't give that reference. Children were apparently by his first wife. Six are named and it says there may have been seven of them. Isreal, Ebenezer, Hepzibah, Samuel, Miriam, Thomas, possibly Joanna. Zachariah and the first Samuel are the two not named. Johamiah is also not named. They are not named in the Windsor records, either. Search for Passengers of Mary and John article gives as references, History of Ancient Widnsor, and Your Ancestors, vol 2, 148, pp 115-116.
