General Notes (Husband)
Humfry was named as executor of his father's will; had to have been 21 in 1577. Born by 1555.
He was a clothier of Kidderminster.
A clothier during this time meant a broker of yardage. He would buy the yarn, commission weavers to make cloth, have it finished by the walkers or fullers and then he would sell that cloth. This was a good career choice for a young man whose father and uncle were successful master weavers.
Note that, since Edward's birth record tells us for a fact that his mother was Anne, Gillian Dollittle's reconstruction has Anne and all four children attributed to her, belonging to Humfrey the Younger son of Humfrey of Aggborough.
General Notes (Wife)
Van Kempen says that Humfrey took out a marriage bond for this marriage. She says that this was usually done when one of the parties had been married before and also had sufficient money to pay the fees; therefore seh thinks this was Humfrey's second marriage.
There was also a marriage of Humfrey Doolittle to Alice Hardwich 3 Feb 1595. She thinks that is Humfrey "the younger", son of Humfrey of Aggborough, but is not the son of our Humfrey, the elder, the clothier.
The following children were born to a HumfreyDoolittle and no wife is noted. They could be the children of either Humfrey. Van Kempen suspects they were all children of Humfry the younger.
Thomas chr Jan 1595/96 bur Feb 1595/96.
Jane chr. March 1596/97
Margott chr Apr 1600 bur May 1608.
Elizabeth chr Mar 1601/2.
From 1604 on, children are being born to Humfrey the younger.
On 12 Aug 1602. John Rabold, servant of Humfrey who lived on Worcester St. , died.
Van Kempen supposes that Anne the wife of Humfrey Doolittle who died in 1615 was Agnes the wife of Humfry the elder; the names were sometimes used interchangeably.
