Thoms Strutt is carried under Glemsford, Co Suffolk, in the 1524 subsidy as taxed on b 40 and paying b2. Except for this and what we have learned from his father's will, we should know nothing of him and his wife Johane, but for his own will.

The will of Thomas Strutt of Melford (ie Long Melford, adj to Glemsford), co Sufoolk, Diocese of Norwich, yeoman, dated 20 Jun 1544 and proved 10 Dec 1548; to be buried in teh "holy sepulture of Melford"; to the churches of Melford and Glemsford; to wife Johane "my capitall place" and lands in Glemsford, Melford, and Welynfild for her life, and thereafter to sons John and Ewstace; to sons Ewstas and Erasymus Strutt landin Syldenfyld, Londland, and Weston Myll; to wife Johane lease in Foxerthe, Essex; b 20 sterling, a featherbed, a brass pot, kettles, pewter and other moveables to daughter Awdry STrut; "shoppe stufe" at Glemsford to be sold; wife Johane and son John executors; supervisor Thomas Robards of Glemsford.Witnesses; "Walter Bright, Mr. James Hyll baker, Robert Wright glasser, John Wacye surgun, John Bowght yeoman, Edmund Jeffrey and Thomas Bowght wryter cum mutis aliis.
