General Notes (Husband)

He was a farmer adn balcksmith and lived with his father at Lancaster. He deeded his real estate to his son Ebenezer Prescott on condition that he would maintain him (John Prescott, Jr) during his life. Married Saarah Hayward of Lancaster - suorce, Torrey p 602. Lancaster marriage record says taht he married Sarah [Hayward] - looks as if the surrname may have been added. (Prescott Memorial) Prescott Memorial says he married Sarah Hayward of Lancaster.

He was a farmer and blacksmith, lived with his father, and succeeded him at the mills.

John Prescott deposed aged about 35 in 1678. He died after 1718.
" Other children of John Prescott are revealed by a deed of 25 Jan. 1723/4, in
which John Prescott, Sr. of the town of Lancaster, Co. Middlesex, for and in
consideration of the trouble and care that hath been manifestly occasioned by
me and the said John Prescott unto my son Ebenezer Prescott of the said
Lancaster and to his wife Rachel Prescott, and also upon account of what
further care and trouble they may be expected to, by my continuance under much
weakness and indisposition," etc. gives them a sum of money. He also gives
sums of money to his grandchild Mercy Kendall, to his daughter Sarah Keyes, and
to his daughter Martha Wheeler. To his son Ebenezer and the latter's wife
wife, his daughter-in-law Rachel, he gives all his movables and personal estate
both within and without the house, etc. (Middlesex Deeds,lib 26 fo89)

Beckwith may be responsible for the notion that John remarried to Mary Haynes Howe. Reports of where this marriage are all over teh place.
