General Notes (Husband)

Van Kempen says he was a husbandmen of Aggborough, on the Aggborough Farm, which is a sort of manor or aristocratically owned farm.

Gillian Dollittle posted to several Worcestershire local papers in May, 2003, ads that she was looking for a photo or drawing of the Aggborough farmhouse, which she described as off Hoo Road, and as having been demolished to make way for Kidderminster College. Since she thinks Abraham was descended from Humphrey the Younger, she thinks that his direct ancestors lived in this farmhouse. She described her own ancestors as cloth weavers of Kidderminster. She mentions that one of them, a John Doolittle, was named as a Capital Burgess in the 1636 charter.

JOhn's will, written 22 March, 1543:

In the Name of god Amen in the yere of our Lord god xv hundred forty & iii the xxii day of March

I John Dolittell of the parish of Kedmynster syk in body make my testement in this wise following ffirst I bequeth my soul to god and my body to be buryed in the churchyard of all Saints in Kidderminster

Item I bequeth half my oxsyn to my son Thomas

Item to my daugther Annes a hayfer (heifer)

Item to Alys my daughter a hayfer

Item to my son John iiii sheep
Item to my osn Humph iiii sheep
Item the resydew of my goods I gyf and bequeth to Alys my wife teh which I make my executrix. Witness John Dolitel, Willum Clymer, Huenry Hyll.

The will was probated in Kiddermisnter teh 26th of April 1543.

The first Doolittle mentioned in the Kidderminster parish records was the burial 14 March 1542 (43) of a Joane Doolittle daughter of Humfrey Doolittle living in Kidderminster. Maybe she was the daughter of Humfrey of Aggborough - but not if he was born in 1537. Maybe this Humfrey was an earlier Humfrey, perhaps brotehr of John Doolittle of Aggborough.
