Lost babes: Fornication abstracts from court records Essex County, MA 1692-1745 by Melinde Lutz Sanborn.

Term of Court 27 Mar 1694 - 1.56: Freeborn Balch petitons to be released from maintenance for a child of Abigail Carrooll, which he has paid since October 1690; court orders he pay Abigail Carroll three shillings and discontinue maintenance. The person who told me of this noted that she wondered if the child was bound out and that's why he was released from her maintenance.
