the Exaltation of the Holy Cross (Sept 1486)

Land exchanges involving John Gurdon.

William Warnere surrenders a cottage (1/2 acre) and 2
crofts ofland (5 acres 1 1/2 roods) called
Helhoustenement,late of John Pertre, before of John
Hood, in Dedham to the use of Richard Rycheman, who is
admitted and fines 6s.

And afterwards at this court the said Richard,
present, surrenders the said lands and tenements to
the useof Stephen Dunton and John Gurdon, senior, who
are admitted and fine 7s.

And the said William Warnere and John Warnere his
brother, present, surrender a croft called Sotilfield,
with an aldergrove, in all 7 1/2 acres, late of
William Thedam, in Dedham, to the use of Thomas Webbe
and of John Gurdon, son of John Gurdon, the elder
(senr), who are admitted and fine 6s 8d.

Dedham Campsea Court held there Moday after St. Hilary

John Warner, out of court, surrendered by hands of
Robert Gurdon in the presence of Thomas WEbbe and John
Hadleygh a bond tenement called Crowchehouse (5 acres)
and 1 piece of meadow (3 roods) called Peryesmedwe,
late of Idonia Warner; and thereupon Thomas Webbe and
Robert Gurdon, present in court, surender all right in
said ands as appears 3 Henry VII to the use of William
Clerk and his heirs and of John Gurdion, the elder,
son of Jhn Gurdon, the younger (Johannis Guron senr
filim Johannis Gurdon junr) and of William Warner and
the heirs William Clerk.

The said John Warner, out of court, surrendered by the
hands of Robert Gurdon in presence of Thomas Webe and
John Hadleygh, two closes called Cherchehousefeld
(sic) (20 acres) and one close called Losnefeld (6
acres) of the demesnes of Overhall in Dedham held by
fee farm of 20s and suit of court to the use of
William Clerk and his heirs, John Gurdon the elder,
son of JOhn Gurdon the younger, and John Warner, who
are admitted.


Dedham Campsea Court held ther eTuesdayafter St. Luke
(18 Oct) 1508 24 Henry VII.

William Clarke and John Gurdon, present in court,
surrender 2 closes called Cheshowsfeldes (sic) (20
acres) and one close called Losnefeld (6 acres) of the
demesnes of the manor of Overehall held at fee farms
by 20s v suitof court lateof John Warner, asin 15
Henry VII, which the said William and John received
jointly with John Warnere, junior, now deceased, of
the surrender of John Warner, the elder, in Dedham, to
the use of Robert Warnere, who is admitted.



Note that tenants often surrendered their tenements
which were regranted.

Morrow of St. George, 7 Edward IV (24 Apr 1467)
Presentment that John Mayston, who diedof late,
surrendered by the hands of Thomas Cranefen in
presence of William Webbe, the elder, and William
Webbe, the younger, 2 1/2acres bond land, enclosed,
of tenement Peryes, adn one croft called custynescroft
(3 acres), late of Alice, wife of Robert Gurdon, in
Dedham, to the use of William Warner, Henry Warner,
and John Warner, who are admitted.
