He appears on the 1568 subsidy list for Suffolk unde "Glemsfoorde" as taxed on b5 in lands and paying 6s 8p.
Abstract of the will of John Strutt of Glensforde, co Suffolk, yeoman, dated 16 Apr, 1591, proved 12 May 1591; to the poor of Glesnforde; to wife Juliane all houses and lands until my daughter Anne Strutte is 18, and "at Michellmas follwinge" they to be partitioned, with wife having half for life; if Anne dies w/o issue, houses and lands to to my nephew (Grandchild) Thomas Belkgrave, he paying 20 nobles each to his brothers and sisters, the children of my late daughter Johane Belgrave deceased; to my sister Ursula Brester 10 s; to John Goldinge and his son George Goldinge land in Greate Wylwyn; to Richard Scotte 6s 3d adn to each child of Eustace STrutte 10s; my sife and daughter Anne Strutte to be my exeuctors; my brother George Scott supervisor of the will. Witnesses: William Biggs, clerk, Thomas Gardiner, Ambrose Biggs, Thomas Gardner the younger, Richarde Symonds and others. On 20 April John Strutt surrendered land bequeathed to John Brester teh older, mentioning land "sometyme in the tenure of Thomas STrutt father of the sayde John Strutt".

John Strutt of Glemsford, yeoman, died 23 April 1591, seised of the following, in demesne as of fee:
i A chief messuage in which he lived with a garden, orchard, adn common pasturage.
ii. A piece of land lying in Holbroke abutting Wilwen Meadow.
iii. 1 1/2 acres of land in Mullicrofte, Glemsford.
iv. 1 acre on the west of Ridlowe alias Rithe Field, Glemsford.
v. 1 rood of pasture lately part of Willinghame Croft, Glemsford.
All of these were held of Richard Eliot, gentleman, as of the Manor of Peverells in Glemsford by fealty and several rents amounting in all to 2 3/4 d. They are worth 20 s. per annum clear.
vi. Pattye Croft with a woodland grove adjoining, in all 4 acres.
vii. 2 acres of land called Suckenhedge in Glemsford.

Items no vi thorugh xx were held of the Queen as of the Manor of Glemsford, lately parcel of the possessions of the Bishopric of Ely, then vacant, and now part of the possessions of the Queen by the service of fealty and several rents amounting in all to 8s 4d per annum and suit of court, in free socage (ie land tenure by nonmilitary service) and not in chief, for all services. They are woth in all 20s per annum clear. Item no xxi was held by the Queen as of th Manor of Glesford, by fealty and a rent of 3d. It is woth 20 s. per annum clear.
JOhn STrutt made a will... Ann Strutt, daughter and one heir of John STrut, had attained the age o 17 years by 4 July preceding the holding of the inquest and is married to Ambrose Biggs Jr.
Thomas Belgrave, the son of Joan Belgrave, another daughter of John Strutt, decesed, is kinsman and another heir of the said John and was over 21 when the latter died. Julian Strutt subsequently married Ambrose Biggs Sr. and still lives at Glemsord. This couple have taken charge of all the aforesaid tenemetns and appurtenances and have received therevenues adn profits thereof since the death of John Strutt.
