Esther thinks he married Prudence Beckwith, dau Matthew Jr and Elizabeth, in Glastonbury, CT
There is disagreement as to who ws his wife; Prudence White or Prudence Beckwith. The matter would seem to be settled by a deed, in Lyme, where Prudence is referred to as daughter of Matthew Beckwith and wife of Charles DeWolf. Apparently one of the genealogical resources on the family has it wrong.
"In Lyme, vessels were built which went out to many markets, chiefly to the West Indies,and brought back cargoes to its wharves. Probably by these means Charles De Wolf made his 'venture' to the island of Guadaloupe." (Perry) Charles DeWolf b 9/18/1673 d 12/5/1731 m 1694? The Perry book says Prudence White and the Maginnis book says Prudence Beckwith; Maginnis cites some sources (New London VR 1, p. 11 and Lyme 4-202B whatever that is) and Perry doesn't cite anything. Has anyone
out there seen any documentary evidence? I share your confusion, Dora.

Maginnis gives the wife as Prudence Beckwith, daughter of Matthew and Elizabeth Beckwith, who was born 22 Auigust 1676 in Lyme, CT. ********* In a Lyme deed, Prudence is referred to as daughter of Matthew Beckwith and wife

I do not know much about the Beckwith family other than that Prudence was the daughter of Thomas Beckwith Sr. by his first wife, Elizabeth. In his will he names his seven children, including Prudence, by his first wife. He later married another Elizabeth, the daughter of Matthew Griswold, and had a daughter, Griswold.
Maginnis notes than in an early deed (Mar 27, 1675) Mattthew Beckwith Sr. is called Matthew Becket, Sr.
Lyme VR p 220 states that Matthew Beckwith Sr. died June 14 1727.
