Notes
General:
Dollittle writes that he wrote his will in "May 1730" and was buried in the Stone churchyard "two weeks later".
A farmer, and a yeoman, once his father had died. He was a "husbandman" until he came into possession of his father's property.
William Clymer of Stone accompanied him to apply for his marriage license.
In 1725, five years before he died, he was made Constable, and Supervisor of the Highways, which I think meant he was responsible for having the main road derutted or whatever. Dollittle says something about employing day laborers to pick up stones from the fields and use them to mend the roads. As Constable, Dollittle says he assessed the properties in the parish for Land Tax and "reimbursed charges related to the Window Tax".
His wife inherited all of his property, and then remarried. What happened to the property is uncertain but John Doolittle's sons did not inherit it.
According to Dollittle, John and William both became bakers in Kidderminster.
