General:

In 1810 the US Census indicates that, at 34, he was living next to his fahter's house, alone. In 1829 he moved to Alabama, married, and purchased various parcels totaling 400 acres by 1832. He also purchased 400 acres in Mississippi in 1841 but seems to have been an absentee landlord there because he moved with his family to the Republic of Texas by 1835. He and his son James served in the Texas militia. He died tehre in 1855 at age 81. Obadiah's sons, James and William, served in the Confederacy.
