He was one of the earliest settler in Deerfield, He was kiled by Indians in the Battle of Bloody Brook, Sept 18, 1675.

His brother Nehemiah was great grandfather to Revolutionary War hero Ethan Allen; when I was a child, my mother made much of this relationship (though direct ancestor Joseph served in the Revolutionary War in his own right).
His sons John and Samuel settled in Enfield, CT.
