The other clue is that in 1670, John's son John reportedly had a "cousin" named Mary Cook. In one of the web sites on Edmond Freeman, Edmond Freeman who immigrated to Boston in 1635, first married Bennet Hodsoll, in England, probably, who was the mother of most or all of his children; and according to one of four web sites, he married again, Elizabeth Rayment. No source is given. That source also has Edmond Freeman's last daughter, Mary, Elizabeth Rayment's daughter, and has her marrying Edward Perry, and then dying in 1675/6. No mention if she married more than once. I can't find any likely marriage to a Cook. Both whether Edmond Freeman married twice and the birth and parentage of his last child, Mary, are apparently subject to some controversy. I'd appreciate any other clues anyone has to what happened to Elizabeth Raiment. Yours, Dora
. JOHN. In 1670 he was involved in a somewhat disgraceful episode
at the house of Robert Hebberd, and in the testimony in the
resulting court action occurs the phrase "John Rayment's cousin
Mary Cook came in." As he had no first cousins on his mother's
side, this may be a clue to the marriage of his aunt Elizabeth
Rayment. He served in King Philip's war and is stated to have
been the first soldier to enter the stockade in the Narragansett
Fort fight, in December, 1675. He. m. Martha (???) about 1676,
and d. in Middleboro June 5, 1725, aged 74.
