In or about 1806 Alexander and Elizabeth's family plus his brother King and Hannah with their 2 children, came by flatboat down the Ohio River to settle on land in what is now Dearborn County, Indiana (history). What is now Dearborn County IN was, in the early 1800s, still part of Hamilton County, Ohio. (source). [People still canoe up the Whitewater River (map)] So from the Ohio River, the DeArmonds entered the mouth of the Great Miami River, and then pushed the flatboat up the Whitewater River map about two miles above Harrison, Ohio where they landed.

Thomas Milton DeArmond, son of Alexander and Elizabeth (HUFF) DeARMOND was born March 6, 1793 in Northumberland Co., PA. About 1807, when his parents brought 14 year old Thomas and his 2 younger brothers to Ohio, his father's brother and sister-in-law, King and Hannah (HARDIN) DeARMOND, brought their family, too. In 1815, Thomas married Rebecca JENKINS in Butler County, Ohio. Rebecca, daughter of William JENKINS (1762-1833) and Suzannah WALKER (1764-1852), had also been born in 1793 and was living in Okeana, Ohio.

), Milton, Susan (m Moses LYON), Alexander W. (m1 Elizabeth ROSS, m2 Elizabeth OWENS), William J. (m Sarah BROWN), Mary (m William MAXWELL), Margaret (m Enoch J. GEORGE).
Rebecca died October 6 1834 when she was just 41 and baby Margaret was just 2 or 3. Thomas, with young children to care for, married Anna YOUMANS, a daughter of Peter YOUMANS, a Methodist minister of Butler County, and Sarah Perigo YOUMANS. Anna and Thomas had at least 5 children: Rebecca (m George CLAWSON), Sarah (m John Perry LYNCH), Anne (m James APPLEGATE), James Thomas (m1 Eliza HOMMER, m2 Amanda HOMMER).
On November 26, 1879, Thomas died, aged 86. Janet has more YOUMANS family information.

In 1817, 19 year old John DeARMOND married 23 year old Eleanor FOSTER in Butler County OH.
Between 1817 and 1859, Eleanor and John had several children: Alexander, Sarah (1826 OH), Mary Jane (1826 OH), Martha, Elizabeth (1829/30), John (1831), and William E. (1835/36 MI) More, with sources 1834 - John and Eleanor DeARMOND moved from Butler Co OH to Berrien Co MI.
The "History of Berrien County, Michigan", Mt. Zion Cemetery, and the census of 1850 lists John and Ellen (FOSTER) DeARMOND's children as: Geni.com research shows that William E. DeARMOND married Clarissa BROWN. They had a son, Camlin Foster DeARMOND, born September 1858 in MI. William served in the Civil War, was wounded, and died 9 Sept 1864 when Camlin turned 6 years old. Camlin lived in Ionia, MI until he died in 1934. The "History of Berrien County, Michigan" lists the children of John DeARMOND as sons Alexander and John DeARMOND, and daughters Sarah (Mrs. Charles SMITH), Martha (Mrs. J. D. ROSS), and Elizabeth (Mrs. James "Harvey" BUCKLES). [William was not listed.] James Harvey BUCKLES was born in 1810 in Berkeley, VA to James and Ann Osborne BUCKLES. James Harvey married 1) Elizabeth DeArmond, then married 2) Maria Chambers and had 3 children. James Harvey married 3) Nancy H Dewey and had 6 children. James Harvey BUCKLES died on 28 May 1884 in Saint Joseph, IN. John DeARMOND and Wilson J. EGBERT lived in Galien Township, Berrien Co, MI. History USGENNET.org: Elizabeth BUCKLES (1829-1911) was buried at Mt. Zion Cemetery, in Dayton, MI. Several DeARMONDs were buried there as well. Eleanor and John DeARMOND are there. She died 23 April, 1859 (65 y, 2 mo, 1 da). He died 15 Oct, 1877 (79 y). Cass DeARMOND was born 1853 and died 1921. Mary Jane DeARMOND died 28 Dec, 1853 in her 27th year (born ca 1826 to John and Eleanor). William DeARMOND died 9 Sep 1864, 29 years old.
