Mary Theresa "Minnie McKee"  b. 1846 Baltimore d. 1931

Seeking living descendants of prolific author of Catholic children's
books, poetry, and various, other Catholic literature.  She was born in
Baltimore, 1846.  She attended Mount de Sales Academy in Catonsville,
MD, graduating in 1866.  "Minnie" McKee, as she was known, Married Dr.
Samuel J. Waggaman in 1870.  They had eleven children.  He died in 1913,
and she in 1931.  Am seeking anyone who was close to her, knew of her
works, and who may still have some notes or manuscripts.  Am working on
a history of her school (soon turning 150) and she wrote a number of
historical pieces about it.  Am hoping to locate more. Particularly
would like to locate a photo of her to include in the history.

Additional Info on Samuel J and Mary T submitted by Dick Randt Feb 23, 2000

A million thanks for the instant genealogy of the Maryland Waggamans and the Louisiana link.  My real agenda was to find the origin of Dr. Samuel Waggaman.  It turns out he's a brother of
Thomas Ennalls Waggaman, b. 1839, Wash, DC.  Samuel Waggaman was the husband of Mary Theresa McKee (1846-1931) a prolific writer of Catholic childrens literature.  It's her I have an interest in but wanted some background on her husband, in-laws, etc.
Some of Mary Waggaman's other works, poetry and magazine pieces are available online through the University of Michigan "Making of America" pages.  There's one in particular that might interest other Waggaman researchers.  It's "Catholic Life in Washington," published in
Catholic World Vol 66, Issue 396, Mar. 1898, pp. 821-838.  There is a picture of the Thomas Ennalls Waggaman Gallery and she talks about it and the owner but neglects to say he's her brother-in-law.

Find it through the search at :

Enter Mary T. Waggaman and it will give you about 18 items.  It was number 12.
