This Waldock family's ancestry
has been traced to David Waldocke who married Emmet Gill at Great Barford,
Bedfordshire in 1611. There were a variety of spellings for the name
e.g. Waldocke, Waldock, Walduck, Wallduck, Walducke, Walldocke.
From Great Barford the family spread within Bedfordshire to places such as
Clifton, Langford and Stotfold. The descendants (particularly the
seventh generation) spread out into surrounding shires such as Hertford,
Huntingdon, Cambridge, Essex and even further onto Stafford and Sussex.
In the mid 1850s members were prepared to take great risks and ventured
forth to Canada, Australia, The United States of America and Ceylon either
on their own or with their families. The next generations continued
the Diaspora going to Italy, Canada, U.S.A, Australia, Africa and India.
Some returned to England. Today it continues to be a mobile global family.
