Lloyd's Captains Register 1869 A list of all Master Mariners who held a British Master's Certificate in 1869 and were still active at sea. Many US & Irish born Masters as well as those from the old empire (eg Canadians, Australians, New Zealanders, Maltese) are included as they held British Certificates. The index gives the year of birth, place of birth, date & number of the certificate and in most cases a list of the ships sailed between obtaining the certificate and 1869 with their numbers and the type of voyage eg Coastal, Baltic, North America, East Indies etc.            Bob Sanders
