  • ROCKY HILL INN

    ROCKY HILL INN

Rocky Hill Inn located on the Old Stage Road near the Oakland Community, between Leesburg and Limestone. Part of the building was erected before 1780 and it soon grew into a huge two-story structure used for a home and an inn. There were porches across the entire front on both floors. The upper rooms were entered through a stairway from the lower porch to the upper porch, with each room opening into the porch; there were no doors between the upstairs rooms. The kitchen was separated from the rest of the house by a dog trot. Rocky Hill Inn was operated from about 1785-1790 until about 1850 by Moses Carson and his son Moses W. Carson
