O. J. Guest Dies at S. L. Hospital

Orson Joseph Guest, 77, of 3417 South West Temple St. died Saturday at 5:15 p.m. in a Salt Lake hospital after a lingering illness.

He was born Dec. 27, 1872 in Mill Creek, a son of Edward Francis and Jane Walton Guest. He married Hettie Scott in the Salt Lake Temple, Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints March 14, 1900. The couple celebrated their golden wedding anniversary last March.

After the marriage, they resided in Moreland, Ida., 20 years and came to Salt Lake City.

A farmer most of his life, he was a high priest in the Granite Park Ward. He had served as a ward teacher 38 years.

Survivors in addition to his widow are a son and a daughter, Orson Harold Guest and Mrs. Goldie Ila C. Peters, both of Salt Lake City.

Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday [19 Jul] noon in the Miller Ward chapel, 47 East 3300 South St., by Bishop Willard S. Cowley of the Granite Park Ward.

Friends may call at the home of Bishop Cowley, 3517 South West Temple St., Wednesday from 11 to 11:30 a.m. Burial will be in Elysian Burial Gardens.
