Walton Price Pioneer Experiences

1997 was the sesquicentennial anniversary of the pioneer trek from Winter Quarters (near Omaha), Nebraska, to Utah. The Walton Price family followed this trail 6 years later. No known journal of this experience was kept by immediate family members. However, James Armitstead, who traveled in the same wagon company as Thomas and Jane, and their three children, did keep such a journal.

Also in this Pioneer company, and in the same ocean company, was Hannah Last Cornaby. Her Autobiographjy and Poems will be used for additional first hand information.

Finally, Frederick Piercy, who was hired by the LDS church to assist in preparing an emigrants' guide to Utah, crossed the Atlantic just a few weeks after the Walton family, and crossed the plains during the same summer, 1853. His etchings provide illustrations of their company and the important scenes they viewed.
