At a probate Court holden within & for the District of Washington at Montpelier on the 22nd day of December A.D. 1819 --
Before the Hon. Salvin Colling Esq. Judge of sd Court --
Mehetable Vose of Berlin in sd District was appointed Administratrix on the Estate of Robert Vose late of Berlin dec'd who accepted said trust & gave bond with surity as the law directs and a Letter of Administration issued accordingly.
And sd Administratrix having represented said estate as insolvent & insufficient to pay the just debts which the deceased owed. Josiah Benjamin, Jacob Cumming and John Flanders were appointed commissioners to receive examine & report the claims of the several creditors to sd estate & were allowed said creditors to bring in proof their claims and for said commissioners to make report and a warrant issued to them accordingly. And Josiah Benjamin, Jacob Cumming and John Flanders were appointed appraisers to make a true a perfect inventory of sd estate & make return thereof within two months & a warrant issued to them accordingly.

The commissioners heretofore appointed on the Estate of Robert Vose late of Berlin deceasd made the following report to wit: To the Hon. Salvin Colling, Esqs Judge of Probate for the District of Washington. We the subscribers having been appointed by your Honor to receive & examine the claims of the several creditors to the estate of Robert Vose late of Berlin deceasd & having been sworn to the faithful discharge of the trust reposed in us & given notice to the Creditors by advertising three weeks successively in the Watchman printed at Montpelier & by posting in the Town of Berlin aforesd as by your commission to us we were directed have attended to the business of our appointment & now present to your Honor a list of the claims that have been laid before us & the ? we have allowed ? each claim as follows to wit:

Mehitable Vose was appointed Guardian unto Orren Vose of Berlin in the County of Washington a minor of about 10 years of age, son of Robert Vose late of Berlin deceasd who accepted said trust gave bond with surity as the law directs & a letter of Guardianship issued to her accordingly. At a Probate court holden on the second day of January A.D. 1820 before the Hon. Jeduthesen Loomis Judge

The Committee appointed to sell off Dower to Mehitable Vose widow of Robert Vose late of Berlin in said district deceased, having made report of their proceedings on the eighth day of December last, the same commissioners consideration is examined, accepted & ordered to be recorded & follows.

Pursuant to the warrant to us directed by the Hon. Judge of Probate for the District of Washington. We the subscribers having been first sworn agreeably to the direction of said warrant have appraised all the real estate whereof Robert Vose late of said Berlin in said District deceased died sured and possessed within this State as follows, viz.
One hundred acres of land and Buildings thereon, being lot number five in the fourth range and late residence of sd deceased, amounting in the whole to the sum of Eleven hundred & thirty three dollars $1133.00 one third of which is three hundred and seventy seven dollars & sixty-seven cents $377.67.

We then sett off to Mehitable Vose the widow of the said deceased for her dower or third thereof a certain piece of land on which the house stands containing twenty two acres - beginning in the North line of said lot on the east side of the road, thence easterly in the line of the sd lot to the northeast corner, thence south ------------line missing ---------------

west ninety five rods to a stake & stones ...... west side of the road, thence bounded by the ...... to the first mentioned house - also one other piece beginning on the north line of sd lot on the west side of the road - thence westerly in sd lot line forty one rods to the northwest corner - thence southerly in line of sd lot sixteen rods to an elm tree marked - thence East twenty eight degrees south thirty six rods to the road - thence northerly by the road to the first found containing three acres and one hundred and twenty six rods.

We have also set off to said Mehitable the southeast corner room in the house - The west chamber and a space under the roof on the north side of said chamber - also the privilege through, and doing heavy work in the kitchen and sink room and one third part of the buttery and cellar to be held in common.

We have also lett off the north stable in the Barn, & the north bay with a privilege in the floor, and one third part of the barn yard, on the north side.

Amounting to the above sum of $377.67.
Dated at Berlin this 12th day of December A.D. 1820.

At a court of Probate holden at Montpelier within and for said District on the 3d day of April, AD 1821 before the Hon Jeduthesen Loomis Judge.

Mehitable Vose administratrix on the estate of Robert Vose of Berlin in said district presents a return of her proceedings in the sale of the real etate of the said deceased, which is examined and ordered to be recorded and is as follows, to wit:

The following is an account of the sale of the real & personal estate of Robert Vose late of Berlin deceased as the same were sold and struck off at a public vendue holden at the house of Mehitable Vose in said Berlin on the Eleventh day of December 1820 by order of the Hon. Salvin Collins Esq. Judge of the court of probate in the district of Washington dated the 6th day of Nov. 1820, having first given due notice of the said time and place of sale by advertising in the same three weeks successively in the Watchman printed at Montpelier previous to the day of sale, and by posting the same at a public place in said Berlin, to wit:

Johnsons Dictionary to Robert Vose for $2.25
1 iron wedge to Saml Vose for .34
1 iron wedge to Saml .16
7m shingles to Saml Vose for 7.00
7m shingles to John Vose 6.42
Sold the whole of the Real Estate for sd deceased except the use of the widows dower during her life to Samuel Vose of said Berlin he being the highest bidder 750.00

Agreeably to notice proved to have been required given to the following persons heirs at law of Robert Vose late of Berlin in said district deceased viz: Robert Vose, John Vose, Samuel Vose, Phebe Grant, John Hillary, Nancy Vose, Mehitable Hillery, Mary Vose.

Mehitable Vose Administratrix on the estate of Robert Vose presents her administration account for settlement, and charges herself with the following items - to wit -

Amount of personal estate for inventory $475.33
For use of Real Estate for one year 50.00
For proceeds of sale of real estate per return 750.00
For proceeds of personal property not inventoried & amount of late over ? 20.92

Samuel Vose one of the heirs at law of Robert Vose late of Berlin in said District deceased, represents that John Vose, Phebe Grant, Mehitabel Hillery & Hannah Finkham, son & daughters of said Robert deceasd had been advanced in the lifetime of sd Robert, & prays that the amount of said advancements may be ascertained by said Court, that t?? may be taken into consideration in the division of the estate of sd Robert - Wherefor it is ordered that the amount of said advancements be ascertained on the first day of January next at the probate office in Montpelier and that the said John Vose, the said Phebe and Mehitabel & their husbands be personally noticed hereof, and it is shown here in court that the said Hannah & her husband reside in the State of New York, out of this state.

The case of ascertaining the amount of advancements made by Robert Vose late of Berlin in sd district advanced to his heirs came under consideration - and Robert Vose of Berlin afsd is appointed agent to act for and in behalf of Joseph Finkham & Hannah Finkham his wife, & daughter of sd Robert Vose who reside out of this state, and the said Robert is notified of said appointment, and accepts such trust and, having had due notice personally appraise him in court as such agent, & John Vose, John Hillery husband ........line missing .....

also appear and ..........................after a full hearing of all the testimony ......................to said question & the pleas and allegations .................the persons and parties ..............ing the same, do order, adjudge & devise .......has been advanced by said Robert deceased in his lifetime to be taken into consideration in the division of said estate among the heirs to the law,
To John Vose the sum of $100.00
To Phebe Grant, the sum of $25.00
To Mehitabel Hillery the sum of $25.00
To Hannah Finkham the sum of $40.00
and that the same be ... their said licensed shares accordingly in said division.

At a probate court holden at Montpelier in and for said District in the first day of January A.D. 1822
Robert Vose, Samuel Vose & Polly Vose request a division of the Estate of Robert Vose of Berlin in said district, their late father, may be made among the heirs at law entitled to the same -- On inspecting the records of this court, it is found that there is in the hands of Mehitabel Vose Administratrix on the estate of the said Robert deceased the sum of $162.06 to be divided among the heirs of sd deceased -- and it is further found of record that John Vose, Phebe Grant, Mehitibel Hillery & Hannah Finkham, children of the said Robert deceased have been advanced by said Robert in his lifetime to the full amount of these said several shares -- whereupon after directing the sum of $2.88 probate fees from sd sum of $159.18 is directed to the ?? children & heirs of said Robert deceased in ?? as follows: to Robert Vose $35.37, to Samuel Vose $35.37, to Orin Vose $35.37, to Polly Vose $17.69, to Priscilla Vose $17.69, & to Nancy Vose $17.69 -- and the said Mehitabel Administratrix as afsd is ordered to pay the same to them, accordingly by the first day of February next, with interest after ....time and an order for payment is issued to her in due form.
