Elijah Ware

Elijah Ware was born March 25th, 1850 in Missouri and died May 8th, 1884 in Woodbine, Cooke County, Texas.
He married Mary Frances Gibson on Dec 1st, 1870. She was born March 13th, 1853 and died April 10th, 1879. Elijah and Mary had four children.
Lucy Ware was born May 31st, 1871 and died Jan 17th, 1894 and is buried at Oak Grove Cemetery, Woodbine, Cooke County, Texas. She married Perry B. Jones August 17th, 1890.
Melissa Ware was born Jan 7th, 1872 and died in 1950 and is buried at Fairview Cemetery. She married Dennis L. Mitchell Dec 24th, 1891 and they had three children, Frank Gilmer, Ruby, and an unnamed infant who is burried at Oak Grove Cemetery.
Henry Ware was born Sept 1875 in Woodbine and died July 1st, 1952 in Gainesville. He is buried at Fairview Cemetery, Gainesville, Cooke County, Texas. He married Mary (Emily) Elizabeth Belle Hurst Sept 15th, 1892. She was born April 4th, 1876 in Woodbine and died Oct 5th, 1978. She is buried at Fairview Cemetery. Henry and Mary had six children, Luther Elijah, Laura B., Roy E., Ralph E., Walter G., and William Henry Ware.
James (Jim) Ware was born Aug 1st, 1877 in Woodbine and died June 16th, 1964. He is buried in Collinsville Cemetery, Collinsville, Grayson County, Texas. Jim married Leona Pearl Sumpter Dec 3rd, 1899. She was born June 21st, 1883 in Gorie, Lampasas County, Texas and died Feb 22nd, 1963. She is buried at Collinsville Cemetery. Jim and Pearl had two children, Elmer and Loven Henry Ware.

Elijah married Sarah (Sallie) M. Leonard on June 30th, 1881 and they had one daughter, Blanch. Little is known of Blanche Ware except that she married a man named Barton.
Elijah Ware bought the Woodbine Store from W. H. Mitchell in 1881. Mr. Mitchell then built a new store on the West side of the road through town.
