Descendants of George Wait
through sons Briggs & Enoch Wait of Noyan, Quebec

George Wait, son of Samuel Wait (1701-?) and Sarah ?, was born in 1749 in Exeter, Washington County, Rhode Island. He was the youngest of their children, but settled in the area of Canaan, Columbia County, New York along with his older brothers, Jonathan and Benjamin.

Baptisms for both Enoch and Briggs Wait at Clarenceville, Quebec in 1815, say they are sons of George & Elizabeth Wait of "New Canaan" in the state of New York. As of this writing (1991), I cannot locate any evidence to substantiate that either George or Elizabeth were alive in Canaan in 1815 or were buried in Canaan.
