2. Samuel2 WAUGH (David1) was born on 1 May 1843 at Ireland. He married Sarah Bingham, daughter of Andrew Bingham and Ann (--?--), on 7 Jun 1876 at Boston, Suffolk Co, Massachusetts; Both Samuel, 32, and Sarah, 38, were residents of Newton at the time of marriage, and his occupation was a coachman. They were both born Ireland, and the record listd his parents as David and Sarah Waugh, and hers and Andrew and Ann Bigham. They were married by Rev. Alexander Blaikie of Boston.1 He died on 7 Nov 1926 at Framingham, Middlesex Co, Massachusetts, at age 83; death record, Framingham, MA VR. He was buried on 9 Nov 1926 at Edgell Grove Cemetery, Framingham, Middlesex Co, Massachusetts.
He appeared on the census of 1880 at Clinton, Worcester Co, Massachusetts; Samuel was listed as aged 36, working in a cotton mill. Sarah was aged 41 and kept house.2 He lived in 1890 at Philadelphia, Philadelphia Co, Pennsylvania.3 He appeared on the census of 6 May 1910 at Framingham, Middlesex Co, Massachusetts; Samuel was listed as aged 65, father-in-law, living in the household of Arthur Bickford and his wife Annie. The census listed that his parents were "Scot-Gaelic", that he came to America in 1875 and he was a naturalized citizen. He was a weaver in a shoe factory.4 He appeared on the census of 9 Jan 1920 at Framingham, Middlesex Co, Massachusetts; Samuel was living with the Bickfords; listed as aged 75, born Ireland, father and mother born Ireland. He arrived in the US in 1872 which confirms other reports, and says naturalized in 1883. [Series: T625 Roll: 709 Page: 209].5

Sarah BINGHAM was born circa 1838 at Ireland. She died on 9 Oct 1889 at Philadelphia, Philadelphia Co, Pennsylvania.6 She was buried on 12 Oct 1889 at North Cedar Hill Cemetery, Philadelphia, Philadelphia Co, Pennsylvania; She was originally buried in a lot owned by Samuel Best at the North Cedar Hill Cemetery, Philadelphia. Samuel appears to have purchased that lot on 20 July 1886 just previous to the burial of Martha Best, aged 20 years, dated 26 July 1886. Sarah Bingham Waugh was then buried in grave #2 on 11 October 1889, then aged 50 years. Cause of death had been noted as cancer of the uterus. Since her son William was born in Philadelphia in 1882, it appears they were still living there in 1889 when she died.7

James Irwin2 WAUGH (David1) was born on 12 Jan 1847 at Ireland.11 He married Mary Elizabeth Logan, daughter of Patrick Logan and Rosean (--?--), on 10 Jul 1880 at Manchester, Hillsborough Co, New Hampshire. He died on 24 Apr 1931 at Tewksbury, Middlesex Co, Massachusetts, at age 84.12 He was buried on 28 Apr 1931 at Edgell Grove Cemetery, lot# 401, Framingham, Middlesex Co, Massachusetts.
He appeared on the census of 1880 at Manchester, Hillsborough Co, New Hampshire; James was aged 25, born Ireland, a worker in the cotton mill, boarding with others in the house of Edward Anderson.13 He lived in 1890 at house 235 Manchester, Manchester, Hillsborough Co, New Hampshire; Ancestry.com, Manchester, New Hampshire Directories, 1890-93.

He lived between 1891 and 1892 at house rear 109 East Spruce, Manchester, Hillsborough Co, New Hampshire. He and Mary Elizabeth Logan appeared on the census of 2 Jun 1900 at Colburn Street, Lowell, Middlesex Co, Massachusetts; According to the census record, Mary Logan immigrated from Ireland in 1876. By 1900 she was aged 41, had been married 19 years, given birth to eight children, but only four of those were still living, and were with her: Sarah, 19, Willie, 18, Nellie, 13 and George, 11. They were among very many other boarders at that address.14 He appeared on the census of Jan 1920 at 88 Green Street, Clinton, Worcester Co, Massachusetts; James Waugh was aged 72, a boarder with many others, born Ireland, having arrived here in 1874, naturalized in 1885.15 He appeared on the census of 12 Apr 1930 at Tewksbury State Infirmary, Tewksbury, Middlesex Co, Massachusetts; James was listed as born Ireland, and aged 83.

Mary Elizabeth LOGAN16,17 was born in Mar 1859 at Ireland. She died on 12 Feb 1905 at Lowell, Middlesex Co, Massachusetts, at age 45; Mary Logan Waugh's death notice appeared in the Lowell Sun on Monday, 13 February 1905: "Mrs. Mary Waugh, aged 47 years, died at her home, 11 Broadway, yesterday. She leaves a husband, James, two daughters, Mrs. Thomas Ray (sic) and Miss Nellie Waugh, and two sons, William and George".
Her obituary: "Waugh - The funeral of the late Mary Waugh took place this morning at 8:30 o'clock from her late home, 11 Broadway, and was largely attended by relatives and friends of the deceased. The funeral cortege proceeded to St. Patrick's Church where a high mass of requiem was celebrated at 9:00 by Rev. John Gilday. The choir was in attendance and sand the Gregorian mass, and during the service appropriate selections were rendered by members of the choir.
There was a profusion of beautiful and appropriate floral offerings in evidence, showing the esteem in which the deceased was held by her many friends and acquaintances. The bearers were Messrs Patrick Donnely(?), John Sullivan, James and Robert Reay, James Henry, and John Kelleher. The interrment was in the Catholic Cemetery where the commital prayers were read by Rev. Fr. Gilday. The interrment was under the direction of Funeral Director Charles H. Malloy".18,19 She was buried on 14 Feb 1905 at St Patrick Cemetery, Lowell, Middlesex Co, Massachusetts; Lot #36-28-3 at St Patrick's Cemetery was purchased by Mary Logan Waugh on 25 April 1899, after Gertrude's death. She arranged to have her son David removed from Edson and reinterred there as well. Mary Logan is buried there, along with Elizabeth McGowan Reay, Sadie's sister-in-law, who was interred May of 1907. The last interrment was Sadie Waugh Reay in 1910. All the graves are unmarked.20 She appeared on the census of 1880 at North Cambridge, Cambridge, Middlesex Co, Massachusetts; This may or may not be our Mary Logan, but she is listed as 20 years old, born Ireland, and living with the extended family of Louisa McCallar in North Cambridge. She was the only Mary Logan in MA or NH who fit the description.21

4. Sarah2 WAUGH (David1) was born on 30 Apr 1849 at Northern Ireland. She married Thomas A. Shilliedy, son of William Shilliedy and Susanna Bingham/Beegan, on 30 Nov 1878 at Newton Centre, Middlesex Co, Massachusetts; Thomas Shilday, 30, was son of William Shilday and Susanna Beegan; Sarah, 25, was daughter of David and Sarah Waugh. They were both b. Ireland, and it was their first marriage, both residents of Brookline. The marriage was performed by D.L. Furber, Pastor of First Church, Newton Centre.35 She died on 14 Aug 1938 at Framingham, Middlesex Co, Massachusetts, at age 89; Her obituary said "Sarah Shilliedy, a resident of Framingham for over 60 years, passed away suddenly Sunday morning at the Home for the Aged, where she had a resident for about a year. She was born in Ireland, April 30, 1849, the daughter of David and Sarah Waugh. Her husband, Thomas Shilliedy, passed away about nine years ago.
She is survived by three nieces, Mrs. Arthur S. Bickford, Mrs Ella Downey and Mrs. Nellie Craig of Framingham, and three nephews, William J. and David A. Waugh of Framingham and William Waugh of Ohio. Funeral services will be held at the Cookson Chapel, Tuesday at 2:30 PM. Dr. William A. Knight will officiate. Interment will be in Edgell Grove Cemetery". She was buried at Edgell Grove Cemetery, Framingham, Middlesex Co, Massachusetts.
She and Thomas A. Shilliedy appeared on the census of 14 Jun 1900 at Framingham, Middlesex Co, Massachusetts; Thomas was aged 60, and Sarah aged 48; Sarah entered the United States in 1873 from Ireland, Thomas in 1872. They then owned a farm on Capen Street. Four childen had been born to her by 1900, but none were living.36 She appeared on the census of 9 Apr 1930 at Framingham, Middlesex Co, Massachusetts; Sarah Waugh Shillieday was listed as age 80, as a roomer in the house of Arthur Bickford. The very intriguing part of this enumeration was that she indicated (if it was her giving the info) that her father was born Scotland, and her mother born Northern Ireland. It states she came in 1873. The census also says she was born Northern Ireland.37

Thomas A. SHILLIEDY was born in Mar 1840 at Ireland.38 He died on 10 Jan 1929 at Framingham, Middlesex Co, Massachusetts, at age 88; death certificate, Framingham, MA VR. He was buried at Edgell Grove Cemetery, Framingham, Middlesex Co, Massachusetts. He appeared on the census of 1880 at Framingham, Middlesex Co, Massachusetts.39 He appeared on the census of 26 May 1910 at Framingham, Middlesex Co, Massachusetts; Thomas Shelliedy, aged 64, born Ireland, wife Sarah, aged 60, born Ireland, had been married 32 years. Sarah had borne four children with none presently living. Thomas was listed as having come over in 1872 and Sarah in 1874. William Waugh, "nephew", aged 27, born Massachusetts was in their household.40 As of 26 May 1910, he was also known as Thomas Shelliedy. He appeared on the census of 12 Jan 1920 at Framingham, Middlesex Co, Massachusetts; Thomas A. Shelliday, 75, born Ireland, came to this country in 1873, remains an alien. Wife Sarah, 70, came over in 1872, also an alien. They and their parents both listed as born Ireland.41

5. David Andrew3 WAUGH (Samuel2, David1) was born on 28 Sep 1876 at Clinton, Worcester Co, Massachusetts.52,53 He married Sophie Pauline Koch, daughter of Paul A. Koch and Rosina Beck, on 1 Sep 1915 at Beverly, Essex Co, Massachusetts; The marriage, registered in Brookline, actually occurred in Beverly. They were married by Andrew L. Bixler, 40 Railroad Ave, Beverly, MA.54 He died on 21 Jan 1971 at Framingham, Middlesex Co, Massachusetts, at age 94; death certificate #3506, Framingham, Middlesex Co, MA VR.55 He was buried at Edgell Grove Cemetery, Framingham, Middlesex Co, Massachusetts.
He appeared on the census of 1910 at Brookline, Norfolk Co, Massachusetts; David Waugh was aged 33, bording with the Miett family.56 He appeared on the census of 12 Jan 1920 at 115 Eliot Street, Brookline, Norfolk Co, Massachusetts; David A. Waugh, 42, Sophie P., 40, both born Massachusetts, were accompanied by their children: David A, Jr, 3 5/12 and Wilbert A., 4/12.57 He appeared on the census of 4 Apr 1930 at Framingham, Middlesex Co, Massachusetts; David Waugh, 52, whose parents were born in Northern Ireland, Sophie, 50, parents born in Germany, and Wilbert A., 10. David was a landscape gardener.58

Sophie Pauline KOCH was born on 3 Dec 1879 at 283 Sevington, E. Boston, Suffolk Co, Massachusetts.59 She died on 25 May 1961 at Framingham, Middlesex Co, Massachusetts, at age 81; death certificate, Framingham, Middlesex Co, MA VR. Ann Sarah3 WAUGH (Samuel2, David1) was born on 23 Jan 1878 at Clinton, Worcester Co, Massachusetts.60,61 She married Arthur Sidney Bickford, son of Walter Bickford and Lucia Goodspeed, on 11 Oct 1905 at Framingham, Middlesex Co, Massachusetts.62 She died on 20 Sep 1966 at Framingham, Middlesex Co, Massachusetts, at age 88; Annie's death certificate indicates she cause of death as acute myocardial infarction, aged 88 years, 7 months and 28 days. She was a resident of Framingham. She was buried at Edgell Grove Cemetery, Framingham, Middlesex Co, Massachusetts.

Arthur Sidney BICKFORD was born on 3 Aug 1878 at Hermon, Maine.63 He died on 12 Aug 1946 at Framingham, Middlesex Co, Massachusetts, at age 68. He was buried at Edgell Grove Cemetery, Framingham, Middlesex Co, Massachusetts.64 He appeared on the census of 9 Jan 1920 at Framingham, Middlesex Co, Massachusetts; Arthur Bickford was 41, born Maine, wife Annie, 40, and Leonard, 13, both born Massachusetts. They were next door to Wallace Bickford, also born Maine, aged 31, who must have been Arthur's brother. His father-in-law, Samuel Waugh, 75, born Ireland, was living with them.65

8. William James3 WAUGH (Samuel2, David1)73 was born on 16 Jun 1882 at Philadelphia, Philadelphia Co, Pennsylvania.74 He married Mary Alice Tibbert, daughter of Charles S. Tibbert and Catherine Sunnot, on 14 Sep 1916 at Natick, Middlesex Co, Massachusetts. He died on 16 Feb 1946 at Framingham, Middlesex Co, Massachusetts, at age 63; death certificate, Framingham, MA VR. He was buried at Edgell Grove Cemetery, Framingham, Middlesex Co, Massachusetts.

His wife Alice, was aged 30, born Massachusetts.75 He appeared on the census of 14 Apr 1930 at 246 Grant Street, Framingham, Middlesex Co, Massachusetts; William J. Waugh, 48, wife Alice 41, were living with their children William Jr, 9, Marjorie 5, Leonard 3 10/12. William was aged 34 and Alice was 27 when they married. He was the proprietor of a pool room. His parents were both born Northern Ireland, and Alice's were listed as Canada- English.76

Fawcett, on 2 Apr 1902 at Lowell, Middlesex Co, Massachusetts.78 She died on 15 Dec 1910 at Lowell, Middlesex Co, Massachusetts, at age 30.79,80 She was buried at St Patrick's Cemetery, Lowell, Middlesex Co, Massachusetts.

Thomas REAY was born circa 1877 at England. He married Mary Considine, daughter of Thomas Considine and Mary Hedlock, on 2 Dec 1912 at Lowell, Middlesex Co, Massachusetts; Thomas was a 32 yr old widower and woodworker of Lowell, and Mary was 23, a mill operator there.81

She appeared on the census of 25 Apr 1910 at 97 Fletcher Street, Lowell, Middlesex Co, Massachusetts; Ellen was then 23, living with her brother William as lodgers in the house of Ella Tryon.107

Charles Robert CRAIG was born on 10 Jan 1883 at Massachusetts.108,109 He died on 15 Apr 1932 at age 49. He appeared on the census of 22 Apr 1930 at 29 River Road, Quincy, Norfolk Co, Massachusetts; Charles R. Craig, 47, Eleanor L, 43, Patricia V., 16, Robert W., 15, Barbara A., 13, James M., 11, Charles, 8, Mary E., 6, and William M., 11/12. Charles was born Massachusetts, and Nellie listed her birth as New Hampshire with both parents being born in South Ireland.110

14. George Francis3 WAUGH (James2, David1) was born on 8 Apr 1888 at Manchester, Hillsborough Co, New Hampshire. He married Grace Lee Sharpe, daughter of Mary Puella Levinia Sharpe, on 27 Feb 1918 at Iredell Co, North Carolina. He died on 12 Jun 1932 at Cincinnati, Hamilton Co, Ohio, at age 44. He was buried on 21 Jul 1932 at Old St Joseph's Cemetery, Cincinnati, Hamilton Co, Ohio; George was originally buried on 15 June 1932 at Cincinnati City Cemetery, but was later removed and reinterred on 21 July 1932.
He appeared on the census of 26 Apr 1910 at Akron, Summit Co, Ohio; This census listed George as aged 21, born New Hampshire. He listed that his father was "Ire-Irish" and his mother "Scot-English". He was then a waiter in a restaurant.116

Grace Lee SHARPE was born on 22 Mar 1899 at Statesville, Iredell Co, North Carolina.117 She died on 1 Aug 1979 at Davis Hospital, Statesville, Iredell Co, North Carolina, at age 80; Grace passed away during a stay in Davis Hospital in Statesville. Her residence had been 228 West Front Street, Statesville, and she was retired from 30 years with the Stimpson Hosiery Mills. Arrangements were made by Nicholson Funeral Home on Front Street.118 She was buried on 2 Aug 1979 at Oakwood Cemetery, Statesville, Iredell Co, North Carolina; Her funeral was held at 3:00 PM Thursday, with Rev. Ralph F. Carter, Jr. and Rev. Wendell G. davis officiating at the Nicholson Funeral Home.119 She appeared on the census of 8 Apr 1930 at Statesville, Iredell Co, North Carolina; Grace Waugh, 32, was head of the household, and with her were her two daughters, Margie, 8 and Virginia, 6, as well as her mother, Mary Sharpe, 47. Mary Puella was enumerated as having married at age 18, and was widowed. Also listed were Grace's two sisters, Ollie, 25 and Eddison, 15. Grace is listed as "Hough" in Ancestry's index.120 She left a will on 10 Aug 1965; Grace's Will was dated 10 August 1965, a resident of 228 West Front Street, Statesville, North Carolina. Her daughter, Virginia, was Executrix. Others mentioned were her daughter, Marjorie Elizabeth Waugh Ceruti, and her grandchildren, David Alvin, Randolph Stephen and Cheryl Esther. The Will was admitted to Probate 13 August 1979.121

Wilbert Alvin4 WAUGH (David3, Samuel2, David1) was born on 21 Aug 1919 at Brookline, Suffolk Co, Massachusetts; birth certificate, Brookline, MA VR.128 He married Marjorie Elizabeth Waugh, daughter of George Francis Waugh and Grace Lee Sharpe, on 24 Dec 1939. He and Marjorie Elizabeth Waugh were divorced on 1 Oct 1946 at Framingham, Middlesex Co, Massachusetts.129 He married Rosemary E. Relf, daughter of Thomas J. Relf and Alieda E. Stenman, on 13 Apr 1947 at Newport, Sullivan Co, New Hampshire; marriage record, Framingham, MA VR. He died on 15 Feb 1984 at Haverhill, Essex Co, Massachusetts, at age 64.130

Marjorie Elizabeth WAUGH was born on 10 Jan 1922 at Statesville, Iredell Co, North Carolina.132 She married Guido John Ceruti, son of Dante Ceruti and Esterina Cella, on 4 Oct 1947.133 She married Bernard William Cruse, son of William Cruse Sr and Juanita Boland, on 3 May 1986.134 She died on 20 Jan 2003 at Concord, Cabarrus Co, North Carolina, at age 81.135 She appeared on the census of 8 Apr 1930 in the household of Grace Lee Sharpe at Statesville, Iredell Co, North Carolina; Grace Waugh, 32, was head of the household, and with her were her two daughters, Margie, 8 and Virginia, 6, as well as her mother, Mary Sharpe, 47. Mary Puella was enumerated as having married at age 18, and was widowed. Also listed were Grace's two sisters, Ollie, 25 and Eddison, 15. Grace is listed as "Hough" in Ancestry's index.136 She and Guido John Ceruti lived in 1954 at Holliston, Middlesex Co, Massachusetts; In 1954, the house had not yet had the addition put on.137 She and Guido John Ceruti lived in 1973 at Holliston, Middlesex Co, Massachusetts; Before 1973, the house was much larger but would be sold when Marge moved to North Carolina following Guido's death in 1980.138
