     Thomas Sharpe Jr was born in 1718 at Cecil Co, Maryland; He was 67 years old at death.1 He was the son of Thomas Sharpe Sr and Isabella Wallace. Thomas Sharpe Jr married Elizabeth Gillespie, daughter of William Gillespie and Mary Emmett, before 1742. Thomas Sharpe Jr married Mary McFerrin before 1769. Thomas Sharpe Jr died on 11 November 1785 at Cecil Co, Maryland.1 He was buried at Sharp's Graveyard, Fair Hill, Cecil Co, Maryland.2
     He left a will in 1785 at Cecil Co, Maryland; In the name of god amen, of Thomas Sharp of Cecil County and the state of Maryland being indisposed in body and sound and deposing mind, memory & understanding being desirous to settle my worldly affairs to this end I do make and publish this my last will and testament in manner and form following, viz:
First and foremost my debts and funeral charges be paid and I give and bequeath to my son William of NC 3 pounds but look on him as indebted to my estate as ? bond of 65 pounds with the interest thereon also I give and bequeath to my son John Sharp of NC 15 pounds specie also I give and bequeath to my son James of N.C. 1 crown and also to my son Joseph Sharpe of N.C. I give and bequeath 22 pounds all the above to be paid in 2 years after my decease. Again I give and bequeath to my son Samuel Sharp now in Carolina a certain tract of land in Rutherford Co. in the State of NC to him his heirs executors and assigns but if he the said Samuel Sharpe die without lawful issue the said land is to be equally divided between my sons and the children of my son Walter Sharpe deceased. To my daughter Isabel Wallis of NC I give and bequeath a Negro Lucy, to my daughter Sarah Reid a Negro girl Dina, to my daughter Mary Plymoten a Negro Esther ? later to these and each of them My three daughters above mentioned and with their heirs with their increase when they go to Carolina again. I give to my beloved wife Mary Sharp one third of my personal estate and the Negro Nan and Stephen ? Jane and George, these 4 mentioned my wife to enjoy and prosper while she lives but at death they and their increase are to returned to be property of my four sons now at home with me Viz: James, Amos, David, Ebenezer to be equally divided among them. Give and bequeath to my daughter Elizabeth Sharpe now at home with me 100 pounds ? to be paid as follows 50 pound to be paid one year after my decease and the other 50 pounds one year later. Dau Elizabeth Sharp above named 1 good horse and saddle, one chest of drawers one bed and complete furniture, also 1 good milk cow. Again I give and bequeath the Plantation in which I now live on containing 500 acres more or less and known by Sharpe Industry to my son Thomas Sharpe now home with me and to him and his heirs and assigns forever in f? simple provided that he, my son Thomas pay unto cash of my other sons that are minors, Amos, David & Ebenezer Sharp. One hundred fifty pounds to them and their heirs and assigns in case they die before age of 21 or marriage then the share of him dying I give surviving or survivors. I also mention circumstances being that if my son Amos Sharp shall incline continuing school and obtained liberal education then Thomas is to pay for him the annual expenses for boarding, books to the amount of the 150 pounds mentioned and lastly I do hear by constitute and appoint my beloved wife Mary Sharp and my son Thomas Sharp Executor and mention of this my last will and testament revoking and annulling former wills by me heretofore made and confirming this and none other to be my last will and testament. I have hereunto set my hand and affixed my seal this 21 day ? Anno Dominic 1785 signed Thomas Sharpe.3
