John Ivey Cloer

     John Ivey Cloer was born on 26 January 1866 at Iredell Co, North Carolina; gravestone inscription. He was the son of Falls Washington Cloer and Almeda Sharpe. John Ivey Cloer was born on 28 January 1875 at Iredell Co, North Carolina; This date comes from his death certificate, but has to be in error. He had to have been born about 10 years earlier.¹ He married Mary Elizabeth Lambert, daughter of William Lambert and Lucy Ann Gentle, on 4 January 1888. John Ivey Cloer died on 2 February 1943 at Statesville, Iredell Co, North Carolina, at age 77.¹ He was buried on 3 February 1943 at Oakwood Cemetery, Section H, Statesville, Iredell Co, North Carolina.¹

Cloer, 46, Bettie E., 44, married 22 years; 9 children, 8 living; Lester M., 21, Sherrill W., 18, Bertha N., 16, Walter P., 12, Noah L., 10, Willie M., 8, Thomas A., 6, and Wesley R., 2.² He appeared on the census of 8 July 1930 at Statesville, Iredell Co, North Carolina; John I. Cloer, 67, wife, Mary E., 64, along with Charles L., 38, Wesley T., 20 and Lillie Morrison, 60, widow, "sister".³
