Coonradt Derick was born circa 1720. He married Elisabetha Catherina Müller.
Coonradt Derick entered this country probably shortly before 1754. Family lore has passed down that the Dericks were originally from Seey, High Germany, as this is how it was written in the Family Bible of Carl Derick. It was finally uncovered by Gerhard Moisel working with Hank Z. Jones that the town was actually Siegen, in Westerwald, Germany when Carl's baptism was brought to light.
It appears that the family lived in Columbia County before coming to Centre Brunswick, Rensselaer County, New York by the 1770's [see info on wife Elisabetha].
Capt. Abraham Van Aernam's Company of "Colony Rensselaer Wyck" just above Posten Kill lists "Coenrat Derrick, and Carel, William, Anthony and Philip Dirrick" as soldiers in 1767 [Report of the State Historian, Vol II, pg. 815]. Coenrat Dirk was also found on a 1767 tax list in Claverack.1 Coonradt Derick was also known as Coonradt Derk. He "lease of East Manor farm" and "lease of 100c East Manor land". on 8 July 1769 at Rensselaer Co, New York.2
