     Karl Theobald Derick was born on 30 July 1740 at Siegen, Westerwald, Germany.1 He has also be reported to have been born 30 May 1740 Seeg, High Germany.2,3 He was baptized on 2 June 1740.2 He was the son of Coonradt Derick and Elisabetha Catherina Müller. Karl Theobald Derick married Margreth Burns, daughter of Samuel Burns and Magdalena Pruyn, on 17 January 1767 at Albany Reformed Church.1 Karl Theobald Derick died on 21 July 1813 at Brunswick, Rensselaer Co, New York, at age 72.2,3 He was buried at Derrick Cemetery, Brunswick, Rensselaer Co, New York.3
      Karl Theobald Derick also went by the name of Charles. Karel Turk was listed on muster roll of troops taken in Orange County 24 April 1759. He was noted as aged 19, born Germany, and was a farmer.4 He "lease of 100a East Manor farm". on 12 July 1769 at Rensselaer Co, New York.5
