Christina Tisch was born on 4 July 1812 at Battenberg, Pfalz Co, Bayern [Bavaria]; She is listed as Christian in the transcription of the marriage on Family Search. She was the daughter of Johann Philipp Tisch and Judica Diehl. Christina Tisch was christened on 25 December 1814 at Battenberg, Pfalz Co, Bayern, Germany.1 She married Jacob Beck, son of Christian Heinrich Beck and Johanna Sophia Werling, on 9 January 1840 at Kleinkarlbach, Pfalz Co, Bayern, Germany.2 Christina Tisch died on 2 September 1896 at Plainfield, Union Co, New Jersey, at age 84; info from United Presb. Cemetery records, letter dated 29 Jun 1982. She was buried at United Presbyterian Church Cemetery, Lot 187 1/2, Plainfield, Union Co, New Jersey.
From within the series of "Germans to America", it is found that Christine Beck, age 42, Sophie, age 13, and Rosina, age 9, all made passage to the United States on the ship "Mercury" from Le Havre. It's destination was New York, and the ship arrived on 24 September 1855.
Christina was living with her daughter Sophie's family for the 1880 census in Plainfield, Union Co, New Jersey. She was listed as born Bavaria, then aged 67 years [p. 421B].3 She and Jacob Beck appeared on the census of 5 July 1870 at Plainfield, Union Co, New Jersey; Jacob Beck, 58, gardener, real estate valued at $2000, born Hamburg; wife Christina, 60, also b. Hamburg.4
