Charles Dencklau

     Charles Dencklau was born on 31 December 1838 at Hamburg, Germany; Dencklau Bible in poss. of Walter B. Dencklau, 1985. He married Sophia Beck, daughter of Jacob Beck and Christina Tisch, on 5 May 1867; info from obituary for Sophie Beck Dencklau. Charles Dencklau died on 24 May 1902 at New Jersey at age 63. He was buried at United Presbyterian Church Cemetery, North Plainfield, Union Co, New Jersey; Charles was buried in Lot 187 1/2.1
     According to his wife's obituary, Charles Dencklau was an engineer for the clothing manufacturing plant of Shepflin, Baldwin & Tweedy at W. Front & Grove Streets. He appeared on the census of 3 June 1880 at Plainfield, Union Co, New Jersey; Charles Dencklau, 42, born Hamburg, Sophia, 38, born Bavaria, Rosina, 12, Charles, 10, Christina, 6, Herman, 4, Ferdinand, 2 and Christianna Beck, 67, mother-in-law, born Bavaria.2
