William Gillespie was born circa 1695. He married Mary Emmett, daughter of William Emmett, at Pennsylvania; He was said to be of New London, Chester Co, Pennsylvania.1 William Gillespie died before 13 June 1760 at Chester Co, Pennsylvania. His estate was probated on 13 June 1760 at Chester Co, Pennsylvania.
He left a will on 14 December 1759 at Chester Co, Pennsylvania; His will was proved 13 Jun 1760, provides for wife Mary. He left 10 shillings to his son-in-law Thomas Sharp; 10 shillings to son-in-law James Rankin; 20 pounds each to sons, William, Samuel and David; a horse saddle to daughter Ruth Gillespie; all lands and remaining personal estate. sons John and Alexander "to live together on my plantation". Sons William, Samuel and David were "to aid brothers John and Alexander", obviously younger. [Chester County, PA Wills 1713-1825]. Witnesses were William Molly, John Alexander, and Abraham Emmit.
