Sarah Butler was born on 2 November 1790 at North Hero, Grand Isle Co, Vermont.¹ She was the daughter of James Butler and Eunice Kinsley. Sarah Butler married Samuel Salls, son of Hix Salls and Mary Briggs, on 21 February 1811. Sarah Butler died on 19 August 1857 at Potsdam, St Lawrence Co, New York, at age 66.¹ She was buried at West Potsdam Cemetery, Potsdam, Saint Lawrence Co, New York.¹

Sarah's sister, Polly, born 4 Aug 1804, was married to William Alonzo Hickock in Grand Isle Co, Vermont. They later had a son, James Butler, b. 1837 in Illinois -- he was better known as Wild Bill Hickok.
