     Robert Belding was born on 12 May 1818 at New Brunswick.1,2 He was the son of Harriet Belding. Robert Belding married Charlotte Giggey on 26 February 1850 at Saint John, Saint John Co, New Brunswick; The marriage announcement said they were married Tuesday, by Rev. Robert Irvine.1,3 Robert Belding died in 1910 at New Brunswick.2,4
     Robert acquired property within the next ten years in Chance Harbour from Robert Thompson by deed recorded in the St John Registry Office on King Square in Book E4 at page 428.5
He appeared on the census of 1871; Robert Belding, 53, wife Charlotte, 56, and daughter Sarah E., 20. Also living with them was Emaline/Evaline Partelow, age 9, who was likely a daughter of Ed Partlow and Emily Belding.5
