Lydia Patterson

     Lydia Patterson was born on 20 July 1819 at Noyan, Missisquoi Co, Quebec. She was the daughter of Frederick Patterson and Nancy May. Lydia Patterson was baptized on 11 February 1826 at St George's Anglican Church, Clarenceville, Missisquoi Co, Quebec. She married William Stewart Young, son of Johannes Young and Lydia Ann Covey, on 25 January 1838 at Alburgh, Grand Isle Co, Vermont.¹ Lydia Patterson died on 27 March 1903 at Hillsborough, Hillsborough Co, New Hampshire, at age 83; "Milton Keene and his wife of St Lawrence Co. and Philip Young of Hillsboro, NH were called here to attend the funeral of their mother, Mrs. Lydia Young, whose remains were brought from Hillsboro, where she died, to Sandy Knoll Cemetery for burial. She was for many years a resident here, coming in the early sixties with her husband William Young from Clarenceville, PQ. She was the mother of 13 children, 8 of whom are living now. She died at the ripe old age of 84."^2,3 She was buried on 1 April 1903 at Sandy Knoll Cemetery, Chateaugay, Franklin Co, New York.^4,5
     She appeared on the census of 18 June 1900 at Deering, Hillsborough Co, New Hampsire; Lydia appeared with her son, William L. Young, and family. She was then 80 years old, widowed; Father and mother were born in Canada. She was mother to 14 children, with just seven still living.⁶
