Solomon Curtis was born on 15 January 1764. He was the son of John Curtis and Deborah (?). Solomon Curtis married Hannah Taylor in 1779 at Stockbridge, Berkshire Co, Massachusetts; They were said to have married in the winter of 1779 or 1780 by Rev. Camp of Canaan. However, when this was to be verified yaers later, the extant clergy there said Rev. Camp must not have filed his records with the town of Canaan. This is of interest because it is likely that Jacob Salls and Margaret Taylor were married by the same man.1
Solomon Curtis first entered the army in Salisbury, CT, in a company commanded by Capt. Pettibone. He moved from Salisbury to Great Barrington, MA during the War. The document mentions his marriage to Hannah Taylor and later moving to Clarenceville.1
