     James Patterson was born on 21 February 1823 at Noyan, Missisquoi Co, Quebec.1,2 He was the son of Frederick Patterson and Nancy May. James Patterson was baptized on 11 February 1826 at St George's Anglican Church, Clarenceville, Missisquoi Co, Quebec.3 He married Ann C. Smart. James Patterson died on 15 June 1874 at age 51.2 He was buried at Central Cemetery, Jay, Essex Co, New York.2
     He appeared on the census of 1860 at Peru, Clinton Co, New York; James Patterson, 37, Anna, 37, John D., 13, Levi J., 8, Mary J., 6, and Almira, 2.4
