Laura Emery

     Laura Emery was born on 6 October 1832 at W. Stockholm, St Lawrence Co, New York; info from 1860 census Stockholm, St Lawrence Co, NY. She married James S. Curtis, son of Daniel Curtis and Rebecca Salls, on 30 April 1851 at Brookdale, St Lawrence Co, New York; info from Marion Nichols, letter dated 14 Mar 1992. Laura Emery died on 24 March 1911 at Brasher, St Lawrence Co, New York, at age 78; Laura died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Jennie Brothers, in Brasher Falls. For some years she followed the profession of nurse. Laura was 79 years old, and was generally referred to as "Aunt Laura".
She left her husband and seven children behind: H.P. Curtis, Mrs. Willington Jenkins, Mrs Jennie Brothers, of Basher Falls; Mrs. G.R. Smith, Potsdam; Mrs. S.N. Browning, Louisville; Mrs. Betie Coburn, of Florida; O.A. Curtis.¹
