Ernest Covey

     Ernest Covey was born circa 1873 at Quebec. He was the son of Aaron Covey and Mary Elizabeth Dickinson. Ernest Covey married Lucy M. Arnold on 10 June 1907 at Ellenburg, Clinton Co, New York; Episcopal records show Ernest was aged 35 and Lucy was 18, both of Ellenburgh.¹ Ernest Covey died on 23 March 1957 at Physician's Hospital, Clinton Co, New York; His obituary says he was born in South Haven, Michigan, but this writer didn't think the family was in Michigan that early. Ernest had been a stationary boiler operator before retiring. He was survived by his wife, daughter, Mrs George Moulton; three sons, all of Beekmantown; and two sisters, Mrs. Earl Hewitt, Binghamton and Mrs. Bell Brodnax of Brooklyn.² He was buried at Riverside Cemetery, Clinton Co, New York.²
     He appeared on the census of 1880 at Constable, Franklin Co, New York; Ernest was aged 7, and living with Wesley Wilson and his family. Wesley's mother, sarah was also with them, and she was a sister to Ernest's father, Aaron.³ He appeared on the census of 1920 at Malone, Franklin Co, New York; Ernest, 46, Lucy, 31, b. WI, Ernest, 11, Ovid, 4, Lula, 2 and 5 mos, all b. Canada, along with his father Aaron, wid, 67.⁴
