John Longeway

     John Longeway was born in May 1853 at New York.^1,2 He was the son of John Longeway and Anna S. Maginnis.¹ John Longeway married Emily J. Badger on 20 September 1879 at Holyoke, Hampden Co, Massachusetts; The marriage record indicates that John Longeway Jr was 26, a mason, b. Troy, NY, and was the son of John and Catherine. It was his first marriage. Emily Badger was 30, b. VT and it was her second marriage.^3,4
     John Longeway appeared on the census of 1880 at Holyoke, Hampden Co, Massachusetts; John Longeway, 27, b. NY, brickmason, Emilie, 33, b. VT, worked in a cotton mill.⁴ He appeared on the census of 1900 at Holyoke, Hampden Co, Massachusetts; John Longeway, 47, Emily J., 53, been married 20 yrs, no children, Julia L. Longeway, sister-in-law, widow, 57, b. VT, also no children, Mabel R. Burnham, 23, niece, b. VT. It is supposed that both of these were related to Emily as both were also b. VT, father b. VT and mother b. NH, just as Emily is listed.²
