     James S. Sweet was born on 23 February 1789 at New York.1 He was the son of Stephen Sweet and Anna (?). James S. Sweet married Lorany Tryon, daughter of David Tryon and Elizabeth Lewis, before 1822. James S. Sweet died on 6 September 1867 at Bombay, Franklin Co, New York, at age 78.2,3 He was buried at Sand Hill Cemetery, Bombay, Franklin Co, New York.3
     He appeared on the census of 20 August 1850 at Bombay, Franklin Co, New York; James Sweet, 61, Roana, 56, Sidney, 16, Miranda, 14, Hiram, 18 and Hannah, 18.4 He appeared on the census of 14 June 1860 at Bombay, Franklin Co, New York; James S. Sweet, 71, b, NY, Roana, 66 b. Canada, Sidney, 26, b. NY, his wife Jane S., 20, b. VT, and their daughter, Emma L., 7 months, b. NY.1
