John Lucas

     John Lucas was born circa 1790 at Quebec; It is not known for certain (PWW) that John is a son of Daniel and Esther, although very likely. He was born in Quebec, named his firstborn daughter Esther, a later son Daniel, and a son John Amos (which gives rise to the question as to whether this is actually Amos Lucas, bapt 1803).^2,1 He was the son of Daniel Lucas and Esther Scott.¹ John Lucas married Eliza Harris before 1821.¹ John Lucas died on 22 January 1874 at North Dorchester, Middlesex Co, Ontario.^2,1
     He appeared on the census of 1861 at Malahide, Elgin, Ontario; John Lucas, 72, Eliza, 62, both born Lower Canada; Silas, 27, Darcy, 23, Chauncy, 23, Daniel, 20, all born Upper Canada.³
