Henry Boardman Smith was born on 16 October 1871 at Chateaugay, Franklin Co, New York; He was born on the Smith homestead ini the northeast part of town and spent his entire life there.2,1 He was the son of Oliver Smith and Adelaide V. Stevenson.1 Henry Boardman Smith married Mary A. Bennett.1 Henry Boardman Smith died on 28 February 1937 at Alice Hyde Hospital, Malone, Franklin Co, New York, at age 65; "Mr. Smith had been in declining health since the first part of the year and had been confined to his home....had suffered many painful [heart] attacks in the past few months....
He operated the home farm until his retirement about seven years ago. He possesed progressive ideas in agriculture and had the acres in a high state of cultivation. He was also a prducer of high grade cattle.
Mr. Smith was a lifelong member of the Democratic party and an ardent worker for this cause....was elected Village Mayor on two occasions by an overwhelming vote of vote showing the confidence the people reposed in him. His main objective was for the betterment of the community..."3,1 He was buried at East Side Cemetery, Chateaugay, Franklin Co, New York.1
