     Archelaus Welch was born in 1840 at Russelltown, Huntingdon Co, Quebec.1,2 He was the son of Archelaus Welch and Louisa Covey.1 Archelaus Welch married Laura Elizabeth Gerry, daughter of Riland Gerry and Eliza (?), on 16 November 1870 at Stoneham, Middlesex Co, Massachusetts.2 Archelaus Welch died on 9 May 1880 at Rochester, Monroe Co, New York; Archelaus Welch Jr was 39 yrs 10 mo old at the time of his death from meningitus in Rochester, NY, although registered in Stoneham, MA. His death record lists his parents as Archelaus Welch, b. Canada and Louisa, b. VT.3
