William Oliver Gebo

     William Oliver Gebo was born on 13 May 1816 at Quebec.¹ He married Salome Tallman, daughter of Daniel S. Tallman and Delia Stringer, circa 1872 at Clinton Co, New York.¹ William Oliver Gebo died on 9 April 1918 at Heuvelton, St Lawrence Co, New York, at age 101; William Gebo, aged 101 years and
eleven months, died on Tuesday last
at the home of his son, David Gebo.
in Heuvelton. He was a veteran of the Civil war, serving in Company H, 118th Infantry, and up to the time of his death was probably the oldest
Civil War veteran in the country. He
was the father of fourteen children
of whom seven are still living, as follows:
Joseph of Rochester; Alexander of
San Jose, California; David, of Heuvelton; Andrew of Spencerport, NY;' Frank, of Holyoke, Mass; Mrs.
Willard Hock of East Constable and
Mrs. M. J. Taylor, of Ogdensburg.^2,1
     He appeared on the census of 1880 at Mooers, Clinton Co, New York; William Gebo, 56, Selma, 21, b. Canada, David, 6, Julia, 4, Eliza, 2 and Andrew 6 mos.³
