Francis Augustus Wood was born on 1 April 1896 at Stoneham, Middlesex Co, Massachusetts.2 He was the son of Francis Augustus Wood and Sarah J. Brosnihan.1 Francis Augustus Wood married Teresa Cronin, daughter of Jeremiah Cronin, circa 1925 at Massachusetts.3,4 Francis Augustus Wood died in March 1964 at Massachusetts at age 67.5
Francis Augustus Wood was also known as Frank A. Wood. On 5 June 1917, Francis enlisted for the draft. He was a transportation clerk and bookkeeper and living at 23 Pond Street, Stoneham. Frank said he had already joined on 31 May 1917. His hair and eyes were both brown.6 He appeared on the census of 1930 at Boston, Suffolk Co, Massachusetts; Francis A. Wood, 34, and wife Theresa, 32, were living with her mother, Ellen M. Cronin, 57, and Theresa's brother Andrew M. Cronin 30. Edward Hanley, aged 12, was also in that household. Francis and Theresa had been married 5 years.3 He appeared on the census of 10 April 1940 at Boston, Suffolk Co, Massachusetts; Francis A. Wood, 44, Theresa, 43, Edward Hanley, 22, a composer's apprentice, ward, and Ellen M. Cronin, mother-in-law, 70. Francis had gone through four years of college.4 On 26 April 1942, He was 5'9" tall and weighed 180 pounds. His residence was given as 15 Hall Street, Jamaica Plain, MA. He was employed at the Boston Herald Travelers Corp., 80 Mason St., Boston.7
