Elizabeth Shea1

     Elizabeth Shea was born circa 1810 at Ramelton, Donegal, Ireland; Family tradition says she emigrated to New Brunswick at age 17 to live with relatives in Carleton County named Gillespie.1,2 She married William Moore.1 Elizabeth Shea married Zebedee Squires, son of Jabesh Caleb Squires and Martha Hammond, on 20 May 1835 at Kent Co, New Brunswick; The marriage notice in the paper says the bride is Elizabeth Gillespie. The marriage record also indicates Gillespie, not Shea. Whether or not she had been married previously is not known.1,3,4 Elizabeth Shea died on 30 April 1896 at Bath, Carleton Co, New Brunswick; Elizabeth became very deaf in her later years and supposedly died as a result of blood poisoning from a rusty nail.1,2,5 She was buried on 2 May 1896 at Carleton Co, New Brunswick.
      As of 1835, Elizabeth Shea was also known as Elizabeth Gilespie.4
