John Squires was born circa 1811 at New Brunswick.1 He was the son of Jabesh Caleb Squires and Martha Hammond.1 John Squires died after 12 February 1853; Newspaper mentions a letter was received from John to his brother William H. Squires. John had gone to Australia on the brig "Australia."2
John was said to be a twin of William. According to his sister Martha, he never married but migrated to Australia and became a sheep farmer after 1846.1
