Hix Salls

     Hix Salls was born circa 1805 at Quebec.^1,2 He was the son of Isaac Salls and Elizabeth Crawford.¹ Hix Salls married Mary Permelia Curtis on 10 April 1825 at Clarenceville, Missisquoi Co, Quebec; The record was signed as Hix Salls 3rd, Mary Permelia Curtis, with witnesses being Enoch Curtis, Lury Curtis and Daniel Curtis.³ Hix Salls died on 19 July 1857 at St Lawrence Co, New York.² He was buried at Brookdale Cemetery, Stockholm, St Lawrence Co, New York.^4,5 His estate was probated on 15 September 1857 at St Lawrence Co, New York; His children were named as well as his wife Mary. Henry, Emily and Benjamin were of age, and his minor children, as well as the two children of his daughter, Delia Ryan, were appointed Wait Reynolds as special guardian.⁶
     He appeared on the census of 10 September 1850 at Stockholm, St Lawrence Co, New York; Hix Salls, 45, Pamelia, 44, Henry, 23, all b. Canada; Delia, 18, Benj, 16, Daniel, 15, Lydia, 10, Frederick, 7, Caroline, 5. Parmelia, 2, all b. NY. The family was enumerated next to Daniel Curtis and wife Rebecca and their family.⁷
